The Hidden Basics Of A Fruit Juice Diet
Some people find that it becomes difficult to lose weight and in such instances an atypical diet may be required to shed some pounds. Sometimes, a fruit juice diet will be used to cause the excess calorie drop needed for the body to reduce stored fat. Such a diet has been employed by a number of individuals whose very careers rely on keeping their weight down including models, professional actors and actresses and even professional bodybuilders.
For the average person, however, there needs to be an understanding of a few basic principles in order to make a fruit juice diet work. It is strongly recommended that you talk to your doctor first and follow his or her advice, before you actually start on any diet.
Beware Of Sugar In Processed Fruit Juice
It is important to avoid processed fruit juices that are loaded with sugar. Sugar raises insulin levels, makes you moody and will turn into fat when it is not burned. This is to say nothing of the enormous calorie content present in sugar. Then again, in many fruit juices sugar is the least of your worries as high fructose corn syrup is often employed as a sweetener. This is a REALLY bad additive that has no nutritional value and does little more than pack on excess calories, and it should be avoided on a fruit juice diet.
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Natural Fruit Juice
The best way to when you’re going on a fruit juice diet is to stick with natural fruit juice. Natural fruit juice can be purchased or made in a mixer. The sugars in natural fruit juice are compound sugars and are loaded with nutrients. As such, they are far more preferable for a fruit juice diet as opposed to processed juices loaded with simple (refined) sugars. Please note: this does not mean that one can go overboard with fruit juice as the calories the natural sugars possess also have the potential to pack on the pounds if they are not ingested in moderation.
Fruit Juice Diet Is Not A Substitute For Food
You should remember that a fruit juice diet is not a substitute for food. It is true that if you ingest an exclusively liquid diet you will drop weight in the short term, but the eventual end result will be a slowing of the metabolism and a loss of muscle. A fruit juice diet should NEVER be a substitute for a balanced diet, since this can also lead to binge eating which can prove disastrous.
